Retro Music Monday – the Gay ’90s, (1890s that is)

Remember those old songs we were taught or that we watched on the Bugs Bunny cartoons?

A lot of them originate from the 1890s. Ta ra ra boom dey e, Hello my baby, American the beautiful, Stars and stripes.

Rare footage from the 1890s. Including footage of Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Woodrow Wilson, Alexander Graham Bell, Teddy Roosevelt, Firefighters on horse/carriage and many other scenes from the 1890s.

Ta-Ra-Ra Boom-de-ay! was a 1891 American folk song composed by Henry J. Sayers of Missouri who also wrote the lyrics. It was recorded in 1892 by Len Spencer as one of his first achievements as recording pioneer. Performed here by Mary Martin in 1943.
